I really love Pop Tarts. I got a case of them as a Christmas present and I was totally stoked (I also got a case of Diet Pepsi from my Secret Santa at work and was pretty happy about that too). Pop Tarts have absolutely no nutrtional value and are basically giant fat bombs but, oh my God, they are good. And, just like the case of Diet Pepsi, my Pop Tarts need to be treated like controlled substances and only released in tolerable dosages. Without some external control, I would simply eat all of the available Pop Tarts and drink all of the available Diet Pepsi until the supplies have been exhausted.
It turns out, however, that as devoid of nutritional value as they might be, Pop Tarts actually have a use as a survival food. It warmed my heart to hear that the guy who is trying to sail solo around the world and is stranded somewhere off the coast of Chile is waiting to be rescued and surviving off of, you guessed it, Pop Tarts (or so says CNN)! I mean, how cool is that! OK, so he’s also eating granola but it’s the Pop Tarts that are saving his life. So, kids, the moral of the story is…if you want to live, pack Pop Tarts.
